How do I sign up?You can download the app for free on the stores. You can also be invited via email by a club or organisation.

Can I sign up if I'm under 18?Yes. If you are under the age of 18, Stripe requires that a parent or legal guardian add themselves as the account owner of your Stripe account before your account can accept payments and before we are able to transfer funds to your bank account. Once this has been completed, you can update your bank details in the account settings. Your profile itself can be yours if under 18.

What do I need to include in my profile?We encourage that you add a photo of you coaching or officiating to your profile. Include a snapshot of your experience and expertise in the biography. Make sure you add your contact number so schools and clubs can contact you if they wish to talk to you about a role you apply for. We encourage you to add a working with children check and your accreditations so your profile stands out to recruiters. To receive your payments you will need to ensure your pay out details are added via Stripe.

What happens after I apply?Once you've applied, the school or club will be notified of your interest. If you are successful, the school will either contact you for the next stage, or "hire" you through the app. Once you've been hired, you will see the requirements.

What happens after I'm selected?if you've been selected to coach or umpire a game, the details will go into the "Upcoming" section in "My work" you can view the details, contact the school or club should you wish if there is a change in circumstance. We encourage you do this as early as possible to allow the school or club re post the session or job.

How do I get paid?If you are receiving payment through the app, you can press the 'Complete' button one hour after the scheduled game time. The club or school will then receive an email notification to approve the payment, which they can approve immediately. If the club or school does not press 'Approve' within 72 hours, the funds will automatically be released to you, provided the game was completed. Funds will enter your registered bank account between 3-5 working days depending on your bank,

Can I delete my account?Yes, you can delete your profile at any time in the account settings. You can also delete the registration process with Stripe. Send us an email and we'll take care of it. admin@umphire.com.au

What happens if I fail to show up for a scheduled game?We understand that you may need to cancel a game. Simply let the club or school know through the app to avoid a negative thumbs down rating which may impact your profile.

Can the app guarantee me a job?When you sign up for our free-to-use app, we want to be transparent about our approach: while we offer a platform to connect job seekers with potential opportunities, we can't guarantee employment. Just like any recruitment site, success relies on various factors including market conditions, qualifications, and individual circumstances. While we strive to provide a valuable service and facilitate connections, finding the right match ultimately depends on a multitude of variables that are beyond our control. However, we're committed to supporting you in your job search journey and providing the tools and resources to enhance your prospects.

How do I get notified on new opportunities ?Stay in the loop with notifications about local games, opportunities or upcoming sessions, timely reminders for games starting soon, and updates confirming your selection as a preferred applicant. Ensure you never miss out—simply tap the "Bell" icon in your app to stay informed without intrusive notifications.

​How do people contact me when I apply for a job?When you apply for a job or session on Umphire™, the poster receives a notification indicating your interest. If they're interested in hiring you, they simply press the "hire" button. Once hired, they gain access to your telephone number through their desktop view. They'll then reach out to you directly to discuss next steps. This streamlined process emphasizes the importance of accurately filling out your details on your Umphire profile. Ensuring your information is up-to-date and correct increases your chances of getting hired and facilitates smooth communication between you and potential employers.

Is my profile public?No. Your profile only becomes visible to schools and clubs should you apply for a role. Your profile, image and details are confidential and are not shared with anyone.

Can I apply for different sports?Yes. You can apply for roles in different sports and you can select as many sports as you wish upon registration. You can also add / remove sports in your profile.

Can I find out who has rated and recommended me?Yes, visit your history and Insights section in your app. You are given a thumbs up or down based on punctuality and overall professionalism (communication skills) after each session or job delivered. The more games you complete, the higher rating you will receive, which means schools and clubs are more likely to hire you.

How am I notified?You will see the notification icon in the top right-hand corner. To receive updates on jobs/sessions that may interest you, click on the icon to view. We will also send reminders to you if your game is upcoming. If a club or school has invited you to accept a specific job, you will be emailed the details. Only you see these details. Be sure to check your spam folder in case your invite goes there.

Can I create a coach and a referee profile at the same time?You will need to create a separate account to be able to view and apply for different roles.

Who pays me?If receiving payments through the app, funds are transferred using the school's or club's registered card details via the Stripe payment gateway. Funds will enter your registered bank account. These details are entered into Stripe.

Can I be on the platform without a working with children check?Yes, however this may limit your success in gaining work through the app. Schools and clubs require a valid working with children check and we encourage you to obtain through the relevant state bodies. A school can see if you have uploaded a valid working with children check in your profile.

What's the direct debit agreement Stripe want me to agree to?Stripe requires users to agree to a Direct Debit Service Agreement to ensure legal compliance, secure consent for payments, provide transparency, and prevent unauthorised transactions, all of which contribute to a secure and efficient payment process. Agreeing to the direct debit service does not mean that funds are taken from your account. Who sees my rating?When you apply for a coaching or officiating role, a school can view the number of thumbs up you've received. Schools can also view who recommended you.

How should I should use Umphire?Umphire is a mobile application to receive payments for coaching and officiating jobs that you wish to take.

How do I pay users?Create a profile as a club, register your details and create the jobs securely in the app. You can then invite the coach or referee via email to accept the payment. You will need to add a debit or credit card to make a payment. You can also post a vacancy to find a coach without adding payment details. If you want to do this, create an organisation account and list your requirements to notify our network of users. Step 1` - Create the job adding the date that you want funds to leave your account. Step 2 - Invite your coach or referee via email. Step 3 - Accept their application. You can edit the amount at any time. Step 4 - User receives their payment once you have approved. If you do not manually press "approve payment" the funds are released to the user after 72 hours.

Who owns the account?The account owner should be a member of your club or school sport program who looks after recruiting coaches or a club administrator who manages payments to their coaches or referees.

How do I recruit coaches and referees?To post a job, create an organisation account and select who you are from the drop down box. Once you've selected your sport, enter the details of your vacancy to notify users in that sport of the position. If you have interest, they will apply and you'll be notified inside the platform. Credit or Debit card details are not required when listing a job as an organisation. Once you've connected, you will will be able to view their contact details.

Can I report suspicious activity?At Umphireâ„¢, safety is our top priority. If you encounter any suspicious activity or observe a breach of our terms and conditions while using our platform, please report it to us. We take such matters seriously and will promptly investigate any concerns raised. Rest assured, we have a zero-tolerance policy for violations, and appropriate actions, including the removal of users, will be taken to maintain the integrity and safety of our community. Your vigilance helps us create a secure environment for everyone involved.

What information do we collect?When registering, we collect your school or clubs email, telephone number and address. we do not store or keep sensitive card details. Umphire has no access and does not store your financial information.

Are the jobs I post public?When you invite a user via email your post only becomes visible to that user. If you list a job without inviting a specific coach via email or referee your jobs is visible to all users.

Can I view the history of payments made?Yes, you can download a PDF copy of your history in your account.

Can I send payments to my clubs players?This is coming soon.

Can I upload multiple sessions and jobs at once?Yes. for larger scale tournaments or fixturing needs, you can bulk upload, duplicate and edit to suit your requirements. Listing a job or session can be done in under 10 seconds.

Can I use my account on my phone?Yes, although a desktop view offers a more user friendly experience. Verifiers can use the platform as a mobile app.

What should I add in the budget?You can list the hourly rate when posting a job. This rate can be adjusted later outside the platform. Funds will be withdrawn from your account on the date you specify. You can also list the total amount of sessions delivered for that month. Whatever suits your needs.

How do we verify accreditations?We manually check accreditations and working with children checks; however, schools and clubs are also responsible for carrying out due diligence when selecting coaches. Can I use the platform for recruitment purposes only?Yes. Create an organisation account upon registration and list a job. You won't not need to add card details inside the platform to list a job. You'll need to create a new account with new credentials for this.

Can I get a refund if I'm unhappy with the referee that I've selected?Once you've appointed your preferred applicant and the game is complete, payment must be made. If you are dissatisfied with their performance, you may rate them in the app. For more serious concerns, you can report the umpire and notify us of any complaints. Our platform provides multiple safeguards to ensure your funds are secure, so no money leaves your account without your approval.

What happens if the referee fails to front?If the referee fails to show up, you’ll have the option to delete the game in the app, which will protect your funds and prevent the transactions. Please remember that referees can only mark their work as complete one hour after the kick-off time. This policy is in place to ensure that you receive confirmation that the referee has indeed completed the full game as advertised. If you encounter any issues, feel free to contact our support team for assistance.

Do coaches and referees have working with children checks?Coaches and referees may upload their child safety certificates, but this is not mandatory, as not all users work with children. It is the responsibility of the clubs and schools to collect these compliance checks. When a coach or referee submits their documents, we confirm their upload, which can be viewed in the user's profile. Clubs and schools should continue to follow their standard onboarding procedures for these checks.
